The city of Quena today known as Dandara
or Dendera named after goddess Hathor , the
ancient Egyptian goddess worshiped in Egypt
as a cow -deity . The name "Hathor"
is the Greek corruption of the variants Het-Hert
("the House Above") and Hut-Her
("the House of Horus"). Both terms
refer to her as a sky goddess. She was frequently
equated with Isis , goddess of the sky and
magic. She was worshipped at Edfu as the consort
of Horus. At Thebes, she was considered the
goddess of the dead. She was also the patron
of love, dance, music and joy. The temple
dates back to the Greco-Roman period. It is
a beautiful and well-preserved temple that
carries vast similarity to the Temple of Horus
in Edfu. It's legend said that Horus sailed
once a year from Edfu to his wife in Dendera,
and Hathor sailed the following year south
to Edfu to visit her husband Horus.
